Fairly new on the scene, Litty's Hotel is breath of fresh air.
The hotel, which opened just prior to Oktoberfest 2007, adds a stylish, modern-day look to the Munich hotel circuit and tosses out the notion of same-old, same-old. Living by the mantra "Cheap & Cozy," Litty's is also raising the competitive bar for the hotel-packed neighborhood around the Hauptbahnhof train station.
It houses 35 airy and brightly-painted rooms, with a variety of configurations. There are singles, doubles, triples, some with full in-room bathrooms, some just with shower and shared toilets, and others with shared facilities. And, there's free wireless Internet, to boot.

Often the perfect side dish to roasted pork, kartoffelknödel (potato dumplings) sometimes are big enough to constitute their own meal. At Wirtshaus in der Au, for example, are almost softball-sized. But, then, that's what's this place is known for. They have been serving up knödels (both potato and bread versions) and beer for more than 100 years.
While the restaurant, not far from the Deutsches Museum on the Au side of the Isar River, has a trendy, but classic look, it's menu offerings have traditional flair. There's oven-fresh schweinebraten (pork roast with crust in beer sauce), leberkäse with potato and radish salad and, of course, knödels done up in a variety of ways with a variety of sauces. Entrees (7€ to 17€) are good value for the price.

Fast food that’s healthy and satisfying? Can't be true. Well, the folks at Dean & David will prove it. Catering to a student crowd (given its proximity to the university district), the half juice bar, half quick-eats establishment lives by the mantra "fresh to eat." They use simple but high-quality ingredients to turn out delicious salads, curries, soups, sandwiches, and wraps. All at prices that won't break the travel budget. Most items are priced in the 3€ to 8€ range, and there's an option for smaller or larger portions.
